It is cultivated at an altitude of above 1980 m.a.s.l., at a 3-hectare washing station. Harvesting of the coffee cherries begins in November. This coffee is exclusively 100% Arabica and is grown in farmers' backyards.
The Awata River, located at a longitude of 38.834° E and a latitude of 5.943° N, serves as the water source for the coffee processing, which contributes to its overall quality. The washing station is equipped with 200 drying beds, all of which are covered with shade. Additionally, the fermentation tanks at the station also have shade coverings. The coffee is sourced from a community of 1980 farmers who actively participate in its production.
Muje Mesina coffee has gained recognition for the quality of its coffee. It has been awarded the AFCA TOH 2019 award and the 2018 World Barista champion award. Moreover, the coffee holds certifications such as CAFE PRACTICE, RFA (Rainforest Alliance), and Organic certificates, which ensure adherence to specific environmental and social standards
